The Walking Dead Season 2 Finale
The episode opens up with a view of Atlanta, and there’s a helicopter flying over head. Much like in George Romeros “Dawn of the Dead.” At least we get to see how the walkers all ended up on the outskirts of Hershel’s farm.
They were all just following the helicopter in a herd, started pushing up against the fence, and in they went. They were just wandering around in the woods, until they heard the gun shots from Rick and Carl’s altercation with Shane. I like how they did that.
I love that Darryl doesn’t mince words. He flat out told the group about Randall and Shane’s tracks and how they were on top of one another. Glenn and Darryl also told the group about how Randall turned into a walker eventhough he wasn’t bit.
Lori asked Darryl and Glenn to go out looking for Rick, Shane and Carl.
That’s when they see all of the walkers coming towards them.
Rick and Carl take shelter in the barn, but it looks like the walkers are going to break in. The rest of the gang, decide to make a stand and have a shootout with the walkers.
Hershel says “we got cars, and we got guns, let’s kill’em all.
Rick decides to set the barn on fire to distract some of the walkers and keep them from reaching the house. The rest of our crew, goes out and does a little rodeo action and starts shooting the walkers that are outside the barn while circling around.
Darryl is the most bad ass off them all riding around on a motorcycle.
Some guy that I’d never seen was driving the Winnebago and got eaten. Apparently, he didn’t think to lock the door of the Winnebago, so the walkers opened the door and got in.
Andrea is the first one to call out that they don’t have enough ammo to coral kill enough of the walkers.
Lori is freaking out because she can’t find Carl, and Hershel is making his last stand. As the girls make a run for it, they get coralled by some rather fast moving walkers.
Maggie starts to freak out, instead of following T-dawg’s lead and running over the walkers.
Meanwhile, Hershel seems to have the gun with never ending ammo. Some walker was about to eat Hershel while he was reloading, but Rick saved him. Rick, Carl and Hershel got into Randal’s suburban and took off, leaving Carol and Andrea behind.
Daryl heard Carol yelling, so he went back and got her on his motorcycle. Andrea got left behind.
The gang pulls away from the farm, as the barn burns down. We see the sillohouette of the walkers in front of the burning barn.
We rejoin the gang as they are making their run through the woods around the barn as the sun started to rise. Darryl and Carol are still riding around on the motorcycle trying to get away.
We cut back and see Glenn and Maggie on the road. Maggie is starting to freak out about what happened, so Glenn tells her to move over and let him drive. Glenn tells Maggie that he loves her and that things are going to be allright. Glenn tells Maggie that they should circle around and head back to the highway to meet up with the rest of the group.
Carl continues to get on my nerves.
Hershel tells Rick that he should run and take Carl to safety. Rick doesn’t want to leave Hershel behind and doesn’t want to separate the group. Rick and Hershel start to argue about having faith in things. Hershel says that “God promised a resurrection of the dead, I just thought he had something different in mind.”
The group rejoins where they were left the supplies for Sophia. They go down the roster, and we get a head count of who did and didn’t make it. Daryl wants to go back and look Andrea, but Rick tells him that they’ll never find her.
We get to see that Andrea is making a run for it in the woods, and she is kicking walker booty.
The group stopped on the road in the woods because Rick’s truck is almost out of gas. It looks like they are in a really exposed place with nowhere to hide in. Darryl told the group that Randall turned even though he wasn’t bit. Darryl also told the group that Shane must’ve killed Randall, “like he always wanted to.”
Rick confesses that Jenner, the guy from the CDC, told him that they are all infected “with it.” Apparently, Jenner told Rick that they all carry whatever it is that’s causing the walkers.
Glenn starts to freak out because he feels like Rick should’ve told them about it. Rick just replies “I thought it best that people didn’t know.”
I’m not sure how it happened, but now suddenly the gang is near some water and a stone building of somekind that they can hole up in. Rick tells the group that they need to find a new place, someplace that they can fortify and not just hole up in. Hershel chimes in that they will not repeat the mistake that they made at the farm of thinking that they were safe there. Hershel agrees that they need to find a place they can fortify and call home, and that they just need to find it.
Rick walks away from the group a bit and tells Lori that he killed Shane. He tells her that Shane killed Randall to lure Rick into the woods so Shane could kill him. Rick confesses that he killed Shane because he was tired of him. He says that he knew what Shane was up to, but he went through with it because he wanted it over. He was tired of Shane and his bull.
He tells Lori that Shane turned after he killed him, and that’s how he knew that Jenner was right. He told Lori that Carl put Shane down and then Lori got angry at Rick. Now Rick has a crazy look on.
Meanwhile, Andrea is still fighting off walkers in the woods. She’s out of ammo, but she’s still killing walkers with her bare hands. She trips and is about to get bit when she gets saved by a person wearing a cape, and with two walkers on chains, like pet dogs. This person uses a samurai sword as their weapon of choice. Almost like a Jedi. New character, nice.
Rick tells the group that he killed his best friend Shane because he was a danger to the group. Rick starts to doubt his leadership of the group. Which plays in line with what Carol was telling Darryl about. At the end of his little speech, Rick declares “if you’re staying, this isn’t a democracy anymore.”
The camera pans up, and we see a building that looks like a prison, which is the ideal place to both hole up in and fortify.
Who is the mysterious person in the cape, with the sword and the walker pets? That’s the end of season 2. I can’t wait until season 3!
