The Walking Dead, Mid-season finale Recap
Pretty much, it went down like this:
The group found out about the barn.
Hershel wants the gang gone by the end of the week because Rick wants to do something about the barn. Hershel, keeps saying that they can’t stay, but he wont say why. At this point in the episode, I really think that Hershel is just sick and confused.
Maggie is pissed off at Glenn for telling the group about the barn.
Shane, really wants to do something about the barn. Shane, gets really angry at Dale for not saying anything about the barn as soon as he found out. I think that Shane has serious issues with Rick’s ability to lead the group and keep the group safe.
Even though she’s pissed off at Glenn, Maggie still wants the group to stay on the farm. Maggie made an impassioned plea to Hershel, quoting the Bible’s “love one another as you love yourself” to try to get Hershel to let the group stay.
Shane thinks Lori’s baby is his.
It seems like Maggie’s words had an impact on Hershel. Hershel, comes to get Rick to help with something important. It appears, that from time to time, walkers get caught in the bog/swamp that surrounds the farm.
Upon seeing the walkers, Hershel starts to tell Rick about who the walkers used to be.
Hershel says the group can stay on the farm, as long as they stop killing the walkers and start treating them as human beings. Hershel gets Rick to use a choke bar to lead some walkers back to the barn as a way of showing Rick “how things are going to be” with the walkers.
Poor Hershel thinks that the walkers can be restored back to their original selves. He really believes that they are just sick and need time to heal somehow.
In the meantime, Glenn spit some serious game at Maggie and got her to like him again. Glenn said that he’d rather have Maggie alive and angry at him, than let her die. Glenn said he wanted to keep Maggie safe, more than he wanted her to be happy with him. Glenn said he told the group about the barn because he didn’t want Maggie to be in danger and the walkers are dangerous.
Shane went off the deep end. He chased after Dale and tracked him to the swamp. Dale does not like or trust Shane. Actually, Dale even made the comment that Shane shot Otis and Shane didn’t deny it.
Dale was in the swamp trying to hide the guns so Shane/ Andrea couldn’t get at them. Shane told Dale, that he’d have to shoot him to keep him from his guns. After taking the guns away from Dale, Shane went back to the farm and started giving everyone a gun.
Shane really went crazy, when he saw Rick with Hershel and those 2 walkers from the swamp.
Shane shot the walker that Hershel was leading several times to prove the point that the walker was in fact not a human being but something else entirely. Hershel, appeared to start to get the point about the walkers.
Shane took things to a whole other level and let the walkers out of the barn.
The group shot all of the walkers, as the walkers came out of the barn. The last walker to come out of the barn, was Sophia.
Rick shot her.
