The Walking Dead 511: The Distance
We open up, with the group at the barn. They don’t know about Aaron, yet. Maggie walks Aaron in and introduces him. She tells the group that they met him outside, they took his weapons and his gear.
Rick is concerned about his Aaron’s weapon. He takes it and puts it in his back pocket. Sasha says that Aaron has a camp that is nearby and that he wants the group to “audition” to join his community.
Aaron says that his job is to convince them to come back to his community with him. Aaron is trying to gain the group’s trust. Aaron tries to convince the group to join him by showing them a bunch of photos of his camp. Aaron tries to sell the group on the safety of his camp, the strength of their numbers when Rick walks up to him and cold cocks him.
Aaron gets knocked the fuggout.
Rick starts to question Aaron about how many people is out in the woods. Rick is convinced that they are being surrounded.
Aaron says that they have been following them for long enough to know that they are survivors and that they are good people. Good people are the most important resource in the world.
Rick asks him again, how many people are out there? Aaron says 1. Then he offers to drive the group back to their camp. Carol doesn’t think that Aaron can be trusted either.
Michonne and Maggie side with Aaron and want the group to go back with Aaron to check out what they’re offering. Michonne says they need to find a place where Judith can grow up. Abraham, Rosita, Glenn and Michonne go out to check out the cars.
Aaron starts to tel Rick about his past life with an NGO. Aaron tells Rick that he’s good people. Rick tells Aaron that just because they’re good people doesn’t mean that they won’t try to kill him.
The away team starts to philosofize about what kinds of people they are. Glenn says that if they’ve been followed since yesterday they know that kind of people that they are. He wonders why Aaron’s group would have them. Michonne says that they are they kinds of people that saved some girl that rolled up to the prison with the governor the kinds of people that saved some crazy woman with a sword and so on.
As the away team walks towards the cars, they are being watched from a distance.
The away team reaches the cars and brings them back to the barn. Rick is still not convinced, but Michonne makes the argument that they need to go with Aaron.
Michonne and Rick have a heart to heart outside by the cars.
Rick asks Michonne what did you hear when you were outside the walls at Woodbury? Or outside the walls at Terminus? Nothing says Michonne.
Rick tells Michonne that he has to decide whether or not to go into this place without looking inside and decide whether to bring his family inside there.
Aaron wants Rick to go up route 16, but Rick decides that they are going to go up route 23 instead.
It’s night fall and as the group is driving along the road in the 2 vehicles. One is a car and the other is an RV. Just then, they figure out that they have not asked Aaron the questions.
How many walkers have you killed?
What? A lot, I don’t know how many.
How many people have you killed?
Because they were trying to kill me.
Just then, Rick finds a listening device of some kind. He declares that this plan is not safe since the other people may have heard them. Just then, Glenn starts to drive through a herd of walkers.
Walkers are going everywhere as Glenn just plows through them.
Anyway, eventually, the car dies out and they come to a stop. The RV is nowhere to be seen.
Then a flare goes off in the distance. Just then, Aaron freaks the fuggout. Michonne, who’s been out of the car opens the door and says “Did you see that?” Suddenly, Aaron jumps out and runs into the woods.
Everyone abandons the car and goes after Aaron. Glenn almost gets bit chasing after Aaron. The group, including Aaron gets back together and kills the remaining walkers.
Eventually, they come to some buildings and reunite with the group from the RV. Turns out Aaron’s friend is Eric, who was the guy that was watching the away team from a distance is with them. Eric has a broken ankle.
Aaron and Eric are lovers.
The team decides to go to Alexandria with Aaron and Eric.
The next day, they’re riding along, heading to Alexandria when they see Washington DC in the distance. Abraham notices a big red light in the dash. The battery on the RV dies.
Glenn tells Abraham that all they need is another battery. Abraham says “where are going to find another battery out here? Glenn shows Abraham that there are extra batteries under the stairwell to the RV.
While Glenn and Abraham are fixing the cars, Rick and Michonne have a heart to heart. Michonne is trying to bring Rick back from the edge, but Rick likes being on the edge.
They get the cars going, and they come up to a gate.
Rick rolls down the window of the car and they hear noise from the other side of the gate. It sounds like kids playing and other noises.
As they get out of the car, Carol walks by Rick and says “even though you were wrong, you’re still right.”
The episode ends, with the barbarians at the gate.
