Season 3, Episode 2 The Walking Dead “Sick”
You have been warned!
We open up episode 2 where we left off, in the cafeteria, right after Rick amputates Hershel’s leg. After a brief skirmish, our gang scurries back to their cell block, followed by the prisoners from the cafeteria.
At this point, we learn that the prisoners had been locked in the cafeteria for about 10 months after a riot “like they’ve never seen” broke out. The prisoners got locked in the cafeteria by a friendly guard, who gave them a weapon and told them to stay put until he came back.
The guard never did come back.
The prisoners were unaware of wildfire and wanted a cell phone so they could call their family and friends. Rick explained to them that there was no cell phone, no computers and basically told them that the world ended outside the prison.
Rick ends up cutting a deal with the prisoners and agrees to help them clear out a cell block so the prisoners can stay over on their side of the prison and not bother our gang in exchange for half of the prisoner’s remaining food supplies.
It was amusing how before heading out to clear a cell block for the prisoners, Rick and the guys tell the prisoners about the proper way to kill the walkers and how they needed to move as a unit, stay together as a group etc. and as soon as they find some walkers the prisoners break ranks and attack the walkers with body blows instead of blows to the head. It was as if the entire conversation went in one ear and out the other.
After they regrouped, Rick had everyone in a room and they started operating as a unit. At this point, this one prisoner named “Big Tiny” went off on his own and got bit or scratched or something. Everyone is up to speed that it’s only a matter of time until Big Tiny turns but not everyone is convinced as to how long until the turn happens.
The leader of the prisoners, Thomas, killed Big Tiny with several blows to the head with an axe. The look on Thomas’s face while he was killing Big Tiny, made Daryl and Rick very uncomfortable.
While making their way through the prison, the group came to a couple of blocked doors in the laundry room. After being told to only open one door, Thomas opens the double doors instead of only one and says “shit happens” after he threw a walker on top of Rick. When the dust settled, Rick says to Thomas “shit happens, I get it” and then sliced the top of Thomas’s head open with a machete.
Meanwhile, back with Hershel and the women, Lori gives Hershel mouth to mouth because she’s a dumbass and wants to become a walker. Carol convinces Glenn to help her catch a walker so she can practice performing a C-section on a walker before having to perform a C-section on Lori.
The creepy part, is that someone was watching Carol perform the test C-Section on the walker from the forest. I won’t say anything about the crusty drawers on the walker.
To sum up, our people have taken over the prison and have solidified their position there. Carl, got out from the block, but he found the infirmary and came back with much needed medical supplies. Hershel is still alive, Lori is still a dumbass, Carl still can’t stay where he’s told, Rick, T Dawg, Daryl, Maggie and Glenn operate like a well oiled machine. There are still 2 prisoners, that we know of, that are alive and in their own wing of the prison and away from our people. There is someone outside the prison that is aware of our people’s presence there.
We were not treated to anything related to Andrea and Michonne but in the previews at the end of the episode, it looks like episode 3 will feature the Governor, Merle and Woodbury.
