Mid-Season Finale Episode 408: Too Far Gone
Note: I figured it’s been long enough and I can post this without the obligatory spoiler alert, but regardless: spoiler alert!
The show opens up with the Governor talking to his new people and telling them that they need to take over the prison. He has taken both Michonne and Hershel hostage and wants to try to get them to show him how to take over the prison without firing a shot.
Hershel notices that the Governor has changed, and he tries to talk reason to him. For one, the Governor doesn’t want to be called that anymore, and for second when asked how he can give the order to kill someone’s daughter when he knows the pain of losing his own Governor simply says “Cuz it’s not mine.”
Lilly, is not entirely convinced that they need to do anything to take over the prison at all.
The Governor moves the camp over to the a river with the excuse that the walkers can’t get across the water. Meghan, is playing in the mud by the shore when the Governor leaves the camp headed for the prison.
Back at the prison, Maggie is taking care of a still recovering Glenn. They’re trying to make plans to celebrate their annversary some how.
Rick and Daryl are having it out about Carol. Daryl is really upset about the whole thing and says that he could’ve handled Tyrese. Then Daryl says “what are we supposed to do about those two girls?” Daryl is more concerned about the girls than anything else.
Daryl, tells Rick that they need to go and tell Tyrese about Carol and see how he handles it.
Back in D, Bob and Sasha are having a moment where Sasha is trying to thank Bob for helping them out.
Rick and Daryl find Tyrese. Tyrese shows them a disembowled rat and goes on a rant about whoever killed the rat must’ve killed those other 2 guys. Before Rick can explain, we hear a roaring thunder. It’s the governor at the gate, with a tank.
Rick goes down to talk to the Governor. Rick tries to reason with him, but the Governor will have none of it. The Governor says that he has the man power and the firepower to take over the prison.
Rick says that there are children inside that will not survive being out in the elements.
The Governor is being a total prick about the whole thing.
Back at their new camp, Meghan is playing in the mud and unburies a walker. The walker attacks and bites her before Lilly can save her.
Back at the prison, Rick makes an offer to take all of them in, to share the prison. Hershel smiles and is proud of Rick.
Just then, the Governor chops Hershel’s head off with Michonne’s sword.
That’s when all hell breaks loose. Full on fire fight breaks out.
In the end, many people die, including Judith and the Governor.
Carl and Rick head off into the woods, separated from the rest of the group.
Thus ends the first part of the season. This whole mid-season finale thing is starting to wear on me. At least they’re not putting a year in between the two halves like they did with Breaking Bad.
